Happy Birthday On Turning 30!
The average lifespan of a horse is 25 - 30 years. As a horse ages it becomes less able to efficiently convert its meal into components it can utilize to maintain its condition.
The result is loss of body condition and a hollowed appearance.
Under the care of a vet, our seniors have their teeth checked to make sure they can properly chew food, are wormed regularly, and are given a highly nutritious diet. Some are unable to metabolize efficiently and thus cannot put on weight. So long as they remain active and alert, we will strive to give them the best quality of life possible until they move on to their final pasture.
